Phnom Penh formerly known as Krong Chaktomuk or Krong Chaktomuk Serimongkul, is the capital and most populous city in Cambodia. Royal Palace
The Royal Palace, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is a complex of buildings which serves as the royal residence of the king of Cambodia. Its full name in the Khmer language is Preah Barum Reachea Veang Chaktomuk Serei Mongkol. The Kings of Cambodia have occupied it since it was built in 1860s, with a period of absence when the country came into turmoil during and after the reign of the Khmer Rouge.
Silver Pagoda
The Silver Pagoda is located on the south side of the Royal Palace, Phnom Penh. The official name is Wat Ubaosoth Ratanaram as known as Wat Preah Keo Morakot, "Temple of the Emerald-Crystal Buddha") which is commonly shortened to Wat Preah Keo. The vihara houses many national treasures including gold and jeweled Buddha statues.It is a notable wat (Buddhist temple) in Phnom Penh; Its grounds being used for various national and royal ceremonies.
Independence Monument
The Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, was built in 1958 to memorialize Cambodia's independence from France in 1953. It stands on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city. It is in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa, of the style seen at the Khmer temple at Banteay Srei and other Khmer historical sites. The Independence Monument was designed by the Cambodian architect Vann Molyvann.During national celebrations, The Independence Monument is the center of activity.
Tuol Tom Poung Market(Russian Market)
Russian Market is the most popular market among tourists and expats and probably the best place to pick up souvenirs. It does not look like much from the outside but when you get in you will find everything from beautifully hand carved statues, colorful lanterns and handmade silk scarves to fake bags, printed T-shirts and DVDs. Russian market is located in the south part of Phnom Penh and is known to the locals as Phsar Toul Tom Poung.
