Flying With Infants And Children
We stand ready to go the extra mile to ensure your journey with your young ones in tow will be a stress-free and memorable experience.
Infants
Travelling with babies or toddlers can be a little overwhelming in the sky, where the environment is unfamiliar.
Age Category
By our definition, an infant or baby is a passenger who is under two years old at the commencement of the journey. For safety reasons, we do not permit travel for newborns aged less than nine (9) days old. To be allowed to travel, the newborn must be at least nine (9) days old and must be accompanied by an able-bodied adult. No passenger is allowed to travel with two (2) infants or more, unless the second infant is over 6 months of age and an additional seat is purchased.
Safety first
For the safety of young ones under our care, we distribute infant seatbelts before or during the safety briefing. The infant seatbelt should only be used on a child under the age of two years. Guests are also encouraged to bring their own seatbelts for their child.
Bassinets
Only two (2) bassinets are allowed for use on each flight. Hence, they are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The bassinets are located on Row 1 of Business Class and Row 4 of Economy Class in Boeing 737 aircraft. There are no bassinets for ATR flights.
Baby prams/strollers
Baby prams are not allowed into the aircraft cabin due to their bulky size and cabin storage space limit. Hence, they must be stowed in the cargo hold upon check-in for both the safety and convenience of your family and other passengers. However, umbrella-type baby strollers are allowed onboard and must be stored in the Business Class coat closet.
Children
Arranging for your child’s travel, whether with an adult or independently, should be a worry-free experience for both the parents and child.
Age category
Passengers aged between two (2) and sixteen (16) are considered children in our policy and are entitled to additional amenities and privileges. Children in this age range must be accompanied by an able-bodied passenger aged 18 years old and above.
For passengers within this age range and travelling alone, there are two categories:
- Unaccompanied Minors (UM)
Children travelling alone and between the ages of 5 to 12 years are categorised as unaccompanied minors (UM). - Young Passenger Travelling Alone (YPTA)
Independent young travellers aged between 13 and 16 years travel with our airline as young passengers travelling alone (YPTA).
Our ground staff will be alerted of Unaccompanied Minors (UM) and Young Passengers Travelling Alone (YPTA) present for flights and take them under their care from the check-in process until the boarding gate where they will be handed over to the cabin crew. Upon reaching, the child will be accompanied by our staff through immigration processes and baggage collection, before being handed over to the appointed guardian. Rest assured that your child will be with safe hands with our friendly and well-trained staff.
We would appreciate that you make this request upon ticket reservation through our Call Centre at +603 7841 5388 (9am-9pm daily, GMT +8) or by emailing [email protected], well ahead of the scheduled flight to ensure proper coordination to bring your child to his or her destination safely and comfortably.
Priority boarding
For families with young children in tow, they are invited to board the aircraft first. This allows ample time for parents to stow away their luggage and ensure their children are settled in their seats comfortably before the other passengers.
