Sarawak Cultural Village

Sarawak Cultural Village

The Sarawak Cultural Village was set up to preserve and showcase Sarawak's cultural heritage. There are about 150 people living in the village and visitors can watch the villagers demonstrate their traditional daily activities from the making of handicrafts to the process of making sago. The centre also offers a variety of classes for visitors like the traditional Sarawakian dancing class, lessons in playing traditional musical instruments like Sape and craft lesson.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre

The Semenggoh Wildlife Centre was established in 1975 to care for wild animals which have either been found injured in the forest, orphaned, or were previously kept as illegal pets. The centre is situated within the boundaries of the Semenggoh Nature Reserve, approximately 24 km from Kuching. Semenggoh Wildlife centre is also a centre for the study of orang utan biology and behavior, as well as a safe and natural haven for dozens of semi-wild orang utan, ranging from tiny infants and boisterous adolescents to dignified mature adults, enjoying life in a secure natural habitat.

Fairy Caves

Fairy Caves which is also known as Gua Kapor to the locals is located about 50 km from the capital and getting here is quite easy provided you are accompanied by a proper tour guide. The caves are about 8km to the nearest town called Bau which used to be a gold mining town back in the day. Fairy caves is also said to resemble a Chinese deity. Highlighted by the green moss and the great contrasts between the light entering the cave and its shadowy darkness, Fairy Caves offers many opportunities for the avid photographers.
