Hong Kong, 26 AUGUST 2019 – Referring to Apple Inc's recent battery recall programme for "Macbook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)" units that were sold between September 2015 and February 2017 in view of the batteries' potential overheat and fire safety risk. This programme applies to devices of selected serial numbers only which can be checked on Apple Inc's website.  

In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air (TI), lithium batteries, identified by manufacturer as being defective for safety reasons, or that have been damaged, that have the potential of producing a dangerous evolution of heat, fire or short circuit are forbidden for air transport.

In this regard, crew members and passengers are advised not to bring devices which contain lithium batteries identified under the above-mentioned recall programme on board an aircraft, until they have been repaired or replaced as per the manufacturer's arrangement.
