New Melaka-Kota Bharu service from 21 November 2014 onwards
PETALING JAYA, 10 NOV 2014 – Malaysian hybrid airline Malindo Air announces yet another route from Melaka, to Kota Bharu beginning 21 November 2014, further enhancing the routes at Melaka International Airport and Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Bharu.
The carrier currently operates daily services to Kota Bharu from Subang, KLIA2 and Penang. Four times weekly flights from Melaka to Penang and Pekanbaru, Indonesia were only recently launched on 5 November 2014. This new service will become Malindo Air’s third route from Melaka.
Malindo Air will operate the new route 4 times a week, on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight OD 1723 will depart Kota Bharu at 10:40am and arrive in Melaka at 12:15pm. The return flight OD1724 will depart Melaka at 12:40pm and touch down in Kota Bharu at 2:15pm.
Mr. Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Malindo Air said, “As we look to further strengthen our position in the domestic sector, we are very excited to introduce this new route as no other airline currently offers it, although the demand is there. Kota Bharu is a very popular domestic destination for us where we currently have almost 90 weekly direct flights into the city from KLIA2, Subang and Penang.
“Moreover, with the addition of Melaka’s third route in a month, we’re looking at further expanding Melaka’s potential as an international hub in the Southeast Asian region. Even before the commencement of Melaka flights, we received very motivating response from the public. We should be anticipating more activity in Malaccan airspace in the coming years.”

With this new connection, guests will be able to travel affordably from the heritage city of Melaka to Kota Bharu in Kelantan with fares starting from only RM79 one-way all inclusive of 15kg baggage allowance and refreshments.
