KUALA LUMPUR, 6 FEB 2017 – Malindo Air, winner of the CAPA 2016 Asia Pacific Regional Airline of the Year, announced today that following up on the success of the Smarter Shuttle service that Malindo Air had recently introduced, the airline extended the service to more destinations.   

Malindo Air had recently introduced Smarter Shuttle service between Subang to Penang and Johor Bahru, which allows passenger the flexibility to change their itinerary on the same day of departure. Now the airline has extended the service to flights between Subang to Alor Setar, Terengganu, and Kota Bharu for free. In summary, Smarter Shuttle service allows passengers to change their flight departure to an earlier or later flight on the same day at no charge.

The airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Chandran Rama Muthy said that this service is not only convenient but time efficient for passengers, knowing that they could maximise or minimise the day at their destination in accordance to their schedule. This would be a huge advantage to both leisure and business travellers alike, especially for local destinations whereby they would be able to hop on the available flight of their preference.

Malindo Air’s outlook continues to flourish from its city hub at Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Subang with the encouraging growth up to 3.5 million passengers coupled with the average of 75% load factor since its inception at Subang in May 2013. In a statement today, the average passenger growth per annum, of the city airport solely is said to be 23% which is in line with the growth of its ATR fleet which has summed up to 16 aircraft, to date.

“While we are expanding at a rapid pace to destinations across Asia from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) which is in line with our nation’s aspiration to make KLIA the ultimate tourist and transit hub in the region, our focus remains persistently on our city hub, Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Subang, as the preferred choice for convenient domestic travel, particularly within Peninsular Malaysia,” he added.

Having said that, he ensures that the 2017 outlook is very promising with a series of initiatives and anticipated developments in line at their city hub. The passengers’ growth is forecast to be 1.7 million this year, a 25% leap from last year. This figure is carefully targeted considering market rationalisation and concurrent to Malindo Air’s expansion plan which include taking delivery of two additional aircraft while maintaining the average load factor of 75%.

In celebrating its rapid growth, the airline has introduced the Malindo Golden Senior Fare, whereby senior citizens aged from 60 years onwards will be entitled to 20% discount on the base fare. Purchases can be made at Airport Ticketing Offices and authorised Malindo Sales outlets. This is Malindo Air’s gesture of expressing gratitude to its loyal patrons.
