Petaling Jaya, 24 May 2018 – Malindo Air, a young and vibrant airline in Malaysia, has continued to mark another milestone by successfully retaining its registration with IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a voluntary safety audit programme aligned with global best practices. The Registration will be valid from June 3 2018 until June 3, 2020.

Chandran Rama Muthy, Malindo Air’s CEO said, “Safety is irrefutably paramount to an airline, therefore we are rigorous especially towards areas that impact on safety directly. We are thrilled to have renewed our IOSA Registration, which is also a testament to our continuous emphasis on improving safety management according to global best practices, to ensure safe travel to our passengers.”

“We have a great team behind this to support the airline and keep us on par with the international aviation industry’s requirement. I appreciate the contributions from my fellow employees in upholding the safety standards of our airline, through Malindo Air Safety Management System (SMS) and uphold safety as the utmost priority at all times,” he added.

“I congratulate Malindo Air on the renewal of its IOSA certification. Safety is the number one priority of our industry. Since it was launched 15 years ago, IOSA has been recognized as a global standard for operational safety. It is at the core of our efforts to raise the bar on safety. In fact, between 2012-2016, the accident rate of airlines on the IOSA registry was nearly three times better than that of non-IOSA airlines,” said Conrad Clifford, IATA’s Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific.

Malindo Air Safety Management Systems (SMS) consists of four key pillars that cover all required safety aspects from coordinating emergency response planning, risk assessment, safety performance monitoring and measurement to safety awareness.

Pillar 1: Safety Policies & Objectives
Pillar 2: Safety Risk Management
Pillar 3: Safety Assurance
Pillar 4: Safety Promotion

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to access the operational management and control systems of an airline, which occurs every two years once the airline successfully completes the first audit. Malindo Air obtained its first IOSA registration in June 2016.
