Petaling Jaya, 2 August 2018 – – Malindo Air flight OD1900 took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Labuan this afternoon at 12:30p.m. The inaugural departure was officially sent off by Yang Berbahagia, Tuan Hj Khalid, Minister of Wilayah Persekutuan. The 2 hours and 30 minutes flight is scheduled to arrive Labuan at 3:00p.m.  

Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Malindo Air said, “We are thrilled to start flying to Labuan, as the 14th city in Malaysia that Malindo Air flies to, during our Merdeka month. This means a lot to us, as a local airline who aims to connect our passengers through our growing network and contributes to the growth of our nation. ”

“Our services will fit perfectly to this city that is based on import-export oriented economy. We are anticipating demand on our cargo services for some of their key export products, such as seafood, flour, ceramic tiles and animal feed. On the other hand, there are also travellers who are visiting family and friends, as well as tourist who wish to see the untouched natural sites and marine park in the beautiful islands.

According to the acting group chief executive officer of Malaysia Airports, Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, “We applaud the move by Malindo Air for opening up the route from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan as the island is a strategic location with its own strength in attracting both leisure and business travellers. In 2017 alone, Labuan Airport managed a total of 577,459 passengers, with the specific sector of KUL-LBU accounting for at least 75% of the total load. We hope that with this additional route, air connectivity within Malaysia will be strengthened as we aim to make the country a global hub.

Flight OD1901 from Labuan will depart at 3:45p.m. and arrives in KLIA at 6:15p.m. The seats are available from RM229 for Economy Class and RM449 for Business Class, available on Malindo Air website www.malindoair.com, ticketing offices, customer care center and our preferred travel agents. The promotional fares include 25kg (Economy Class) and 40kg (Business Class) baggage allowance, meal onboard and spacious legroom. The narrow-body Boeing 737NG aircraft, comprising of 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats, will be deployed on these new routes.
