The amount of checked baggage that you can take with you free of charge will vary according to the route, class of travel, terms and conditions of ticket. For most destinations, your free checked baggage allowance is determined by weight (Weight System).
Business Class
Each passenger is allowed (2) two pieces of cabin baggage AND 1 laptop bag OR 1 handbag on-board. The main cabin baggage shall not exceed 36 x 56 x 23 cm and must not weigh more than 10kg.
Economy Class
Each passenger is allowed (1) one piece of cabin baggage AND 1 laptop bag OR 1 handbag on-board. The main cabin baggage shall not exceed 36 x 56 x 23 cm and must not weigh more than 7kg.
Cabin baggage exceeding the dimension and weight or the number allowed, must be checked as check-in baggage.
FREE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

The maximum allowed weight of each piece of checked baggage is 32KGs. If in case the baggage exceeds the weight limitations, passengers are required to repack their baggage to accommodate the allowed weight limitation.

We understand that there may be exceptions from the normal items that are carried for flight travel. Malindo Air welcomes the following items as baggage within the following restrictions.
1) PERISHABLES / SEAFOOD / FROZEN MEAT
Perishables / Seafood / Frozen Meat are only accepted as cabin baggage, provided:
• they are properly packed at source,
• within the cabin baggage weight/size limitations,
• package is complete with accurate marking, description and content labeling.
NOTE: If dry ice is used to carry package as cabin baggage, a maximum of 2.5 kg of dry ice per passenger is permissible.
2) SPORTS EQUIPMENT
We accept sports equipment as checked-in baggage within the following limitations and subject to the followinng terms:
3) BABY STROLLERS & MANUAL WHEELCHAIR
Baby strollers and wheelchairs are carried free of charge and not taken into consideration for overall baggage allowance calculation. All baby strollers and wheelchairs will need to be tagged at check-in counters, under a LIMITED RELEASE TAG (LRT) which allows for usage up to the point of boarding gates.
Passengers with wheelchairs that contain Lithium Batteries shall be accepted on board by following the handling guidelines for staff to facilitate passengers throughout their journey. Information requires advance notification and preparation. Battery must not exceed 300Wh. Ensure that wheelchair is in proper packaging and has correct marking and labeling.
4) ELECTRONIC & ELECTRICAL ITEMS
Regulations prohibit the use of any portable electronic devices that could interfere with navigational aid and communication system, both on the ground and in flight.
i.Unacceptable equipment
Items that must NOT be operated at any time:
a) AM/FM radios
b) Portable telephones or transmitters, cellular/mobile telephones
c) Calculators with printer
d) Personal/portable computers with printer
e) Radio controlled toys
f) Any equipment operating through an antenna
g) Any other electronic equipment not mentioned as acceptable
ii. Acceptable equipment
Items that may be operated in phase of flight other than take off and landing:
a) CD player
b) Portable tape recorders/players/ walkman
c) Hearing aids*
d) Heart pacemaker*
e) Electric shavers
f) Pocket calculators (without printer)
g) Personal computers (without printer)
h) Electronic games
i) Photographic equipment
Note: *Except for hearing aids and pacemakers, acceptable electronic devices are prohibited from use during take-off, landing, and approach.
5. LARGE MUSICAL INSTRUMENT / DIPLOMATIC BAG
a) Small items e.g. a guitar, violin, saxophone, these items can be taken on board as hand carry (subject to hand carry limitations on size and weight). If the instrument is bulky and heavy, the items are acceptted under LIMITED RELEASE TAG with fragile labels and checked-in as checked baggage. Though we put in place all effort to ensure that your items are handled with care, If the instrument is expensive or of sentimental value you’re advised to purchase Travel Insurance coverage in the event the item is damaged unintentionally.
b) Alternatively, large musical instrument e.g. cello in a carry case with a maximum height of 65inches (165cm) with base 10 x 18 inches (44x66cm) upper part with the zipper is 18x26 inches (44x66cm) and maximum weight 75kgs may be placed on an EXTRA seat which can be purchased at any nearest ticketing office.
6. LIVE PLANTS AND FLOWERS
We do not accept live plants and flowers as check-in nor as hand carry on our international flights. Only hand held bouquets are allowed in our cabin. Ensure the stem or ends of the bouquet are properly wrapped to avoid spillage of water that they are placed in. Water may cause damage to our aircraft and carry-on items belonging to other passengers should the bouquet be stored in the overhead locker.
7. SYRINGES OR OTHER INJECTABLE MEDICATION
Passenger that require the use of medical syringes or injectable medications during flight such as diabetics, or other passenger with documented proof of medical needs, are allowed to carry such items on board. These passengers must meet the following:
a) hold a doctor’s certificate stating the medical need,
b) unused syringes come together with medications such as insulin or insulin medication loaded in syringes,
c) the syringes or injectable medications are professionally packed and labeled so that they can be identified,
d) items are available at any time for security inspection such as X-ray check,
e) used syringes must not be disposed off in the cabin; we would require you to take the syringe with you and discard upon disembarkment.
8. ITEM CONTAINING LITHIUM BATTERIES.
Unders the Provision of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, some items containing Lithium Batteries are accepted. However these items must be properly packaged and meet the requirements below:-
1) Laptop – Less than 100Wh
2) Electronic Ciggarete – <2 unit per passenger
3) Wheelchair - <300Wh
4) Baby strollers - <300Wh
5) Powerbank/spare dry batteries - <100Wh, <2g
6) Dry Ice - <2.5kg
9. PROHIBITED ITEMS
Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. Below is the list of Dangerous Goods we adhere to as per regulation requirements.
Note : All claims of mishandled bags, damaged or pilferage must be reported prior to leaving the baggage reclaim area or the concern airport vicinity. The validity of the PIR(Property Irregularity Report) will commence immediately upon passenger claimed bag is mishandle. Our baggage compensation policy for mishandled baggage follows the Warsaw and Montreal Convention as applicable. All Baggage related compensation claims will be settled within 60 Working Days.
