KUALA LUMPUR, 1 SEP 2016     –   Malindo Air today expanded its connectivity in Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City by launching daily services from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi (HAN). This expansion is in line with the airline’s international network plan, bringing its route network to 40 destinations in 13 countries.

Malindo Air flight OD 571 will depart every day from KLIA at 9.15 am and arrive at Noi Bai International Airport at 11.25 am local time. Hanoi is one hour behind Kuala Lumpur and there is a time difference of one hour. The return flight will depart Hanoi at 12.15 pm and arrive at KLIA at 16.35 pm.

Promotional fares for the new route Kuala Lumpur-Hanoi starts from RM209 for Economy Class and RM1109 for Business Class one-way all inclusive.  The fares include perks such as free baggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, and meals.

CEO of Malindo Air, Chandran Rama Muthy said, “Tourism is one of the fastest-growing economic contributors to the country’s GDP. In 2014, there were about 286,000 Vietnamese tourist arrivals to Malaysia for business, holidays or VFR, and last year the arrival growth was registered at 6.7%. Obviously, Vietnam’s market has a huge potential for us among ASEAN countries, and Malindo Air’s foray into Vietnam will certainly contribute towards achieving Malaysia’s target of getting 36 million international visitors by 2020.”

Chandran added, “We will work closely with Tourism Malaysia and the Vietnamese travel agents to design promotional and shopping packages, and our immediate promos will coincide with Malaysia’s Year End Sale happening in December. Our plan will be in tandem with Tourism Malaysia’s strategy of boosting arrivals from Vietnam through health tourism, MICE tourism and increased frequencies.”

The Tourism Ministry is targeting a total of 30.5 million tourists arrivals this year, which would translate into a total tourism income of RM103 billion. This will mark a slight increase from the 25.7 million arrivals in 2015, which contributed a total of RM69.5 billion in tourism revenue.

The narrow-body Boeing 737-800ER aircraft with a seat capacity of 162, with 12 Business Class and 150 Economy Class seats will be used on this route.
